Travel and Weather Information
By Car: Palo Alto lies midway down the peninsula between
San Francisco and San Jose. Drivers can reach Palo Alto from U. S.
101 or from
I-280. Driving directions from either city to the Creekside Inn are
available here .
By
Air: Palo Alto is accessible via the San Jose International
Airport (SJC) or the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Most
locals
prefer to fly in and out of San Jose, which is less congested and somewhat
more convenient via public transportation.
From the San Jose airport
Van services: there are various van services, including the SuperShuttle, which is approximately $26 per person one way.
Public Transportation: the city bus operates between the San Jose airport and Palo Alto via El Camino Real Blvd., and there is a stop directly across from the Creekside Inn (allow 60-90 minutes):
- Exit the baggage claim area. Across the street there is a stop for VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) Bus 10 which comes every 15 minutes and is free.
- Take Bus 10 going to Caltrain (ask the driver if the bus goes to Caltrain, don't take the one going to Metrorail).
- Get off at the Caltrain station and walk to the bus stop on El Camino Real for Bus 22 to Palo Alto/Menlo Park (the Bus 10 driver can point out where this is).
- Bus 22 operates 24 hours a day and costs $1.75 exact change (tell the driver that you want to get off at the Creekside Inn). The bus normally runs every 12 minutes, but much less frequently late at night; you can check the schedule here.
From the San Francisco airport
Van services: The SuperShuttle is approximately $26 per person one way.
Public transportation: trains run every 20 minutes or more, depending on the time and day.
- From the terminal take the monorail to BART; the schedule is available here.
- Take BART to Milbrae (one way tickets are $1.50).
- At the Milbrae station walk up the stairs and over the tracks to the Caltrain platform going south to San Jose.
- Take Caltrain to the Palo Alto station (Caltrain
tickets are $4 and can be ordered online.
5) Transfer to VTA Bus 22 going to Eastridge. The bus runs every
12-15 minutes, but less frequently late at night and costs $1.75 exact change (tell the driver to let you off at the Creekside Inn).

Weather
The weather in the Bay Area during the latter part of March is somewhat
unpredictable. Average Palo Alto temperatures during the day range
from the upper 50s to the upper 60s, with average lows in the mid
40s. Rain is always a possibility.
