Call for Papers
ARSC invites proposals for presentations at our 51st annual conference, to be held May 10-13, 2017, in San Antonio, TX. ARSC welcomes papers on the preservation and study of sound recordings -- in all genres of music and speech, in all formats, and from all periods. In recognition of our hos t city, San Antonio, we especially encourage presentations focusing on the rich history of regional indigenous and immigrant communities, performers, songwriters, composers, broadcasters, record labels, and personalities in the Southwestern United States. 2016 ARSC Awards for Excellence Congratulations to the winners of the 2016 ARSC Awards for Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research! ARSC Awards are given to authors of books, articles or recording liner notes to recognize those publishing the very best work today in recorded sound research. In giving these awards, ARSC recognizes the contributions of these individuals and aims to encourage others to emulate their high standards and to promote readership of their work. ARSC Grants for Preservation of Classical Music Historical Recordings Applications are now being accepted! Grants generally range from $2,000 to $10,000 are available for projects to preserve and promote access to recordings. The deadline for applications is December 15th. Introducing ARSCLIB: The ARSC Library and Archives Electronic Discussion List! ARSCLIB has been created to be a forum for discussing issues of concern to individuals who are responsible for caring for recorded sound collections within institutions.
